Origin
Chongqing Malatang originated on the banks of the Yangtze River. Chongqing, this city of mountains and waters, has a humid climate. People created various delicacies mainly with chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns to drive away cold and dampness. Malatang is one of them. Initially, it was a convenient delicacy for dock workers and small vendors.
